Wellbeing Policy

I take all canine welfare issues very seriously and undertake to promote good health and wellbeing to all dogs at all times. I support and actively promote all aspects of the Code of Practice for the Welfare of Dogs published by The Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

I hold Diplomas in Canine Behaviour Training (Distinction), Canine Communication (Distinction) and also hold a Diploma in Canine First Aid (Distinction), so am able to advise on how to get the best from your dog without compromising its wellbeing. Despite never putting any dog at risk during a session, should anything happen whilst out and about, I am able to administer any care needed before transporting to a local vet.

In June 2022 I was awarded a Silver Certification in Canine Wellbeing from the Master Photographers Association.

I aim to ensure that, whilst any dog is being photographed by me, they will be treated with care and consideration and will never be placed in a situation which may cause them harm. I will guide owners during the sitting on using positive reinforcement with reward when working with their dog. If the sitting is on location, I will also advise clients on safe transportation of their dog to and from the location. I will always reserve the right to cancel a sitting if I feel a dog's welfare is in any way compromised.

Top Ten Tips for Responsible Dog Ownership

3. Provide a nutritious and well balanced diet.

4. Provide suitable housing and bedding.

6. Protect against disease. Your vet can provide you with advice.

7. Prevent unwanted litters and neuter your pet when appropriate.

8. Groom your pet regularly.

9. Control your pet and ensure it is properly identified.

10. Take out pet insurance, to cover against unexpected veterinary fees and third party liability

"Steve has now worked for me on several occasions, I found him to be very professional and polite.

I run a dog training business and I have to have a very calm and patient photographer and Steve is both."
